Aftercare Instructions for Eyelash Extensions

Please be sure to follow these important after-care instructions to extend the life of your lash extensions. The first 48 hours following your application are most crucial.

DO NOT

  • Wet eyelash extensions for 24 hours after application

  • Use oil based products- it will eventually loosen the bond

  • Perm or tint your eyelash extensions

  • Use an eyelash curler

AVOID

  • Working out, steam rooms or hot yoga for 24 to 48 hours- the adhesive will reactivate and may cause the eyelash extensions to stick together or fall out sooner.

  • The use of excessive heat such as oven and grills

  • Product ingredients that includes Oil, Glycerin, Argon oil

  • Rubbing or pull your eyelash extensions- it could damage your natural lashes

  • The use of waterproof mascara- it will be difficult to remove without damaging your natural and extension eyelashes

DO

  • Reshape by gently combing your eyelash extensions

  • Remove all makeup daily and cleanse your eyelash extensions regularly- this helps with debris and bacteria build up

  • Sleep on your back

  • Get your eyelash extensions filled every 2 to 3 weeks

  • Flaunt, flirt and have fun with your eyelash extensions

WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

  • Eyelash extensions can last between 2 to 6 weeks depending on your daily routine and or shedding cycle

  • A new full-set is recommended every 6 months after the cleaning of the natural lashes due to the possible development of blepharitis. (All can be done in 1 appointment)

WHY LASHES MIGHT NOT LAST AS LONG

  • Someone who suffer from oily skin or has dry skin that is using oil products to help with dryness may lose their lashes sooner- too little moisture will not cure the glue and too much moisture will over cure. This causes the glue to go in shock resulting in brittle bonds and can also cause the glue to turn white (happens often with watery eyes during the application).

  • Trichotillomania Tangle is a hair pulling/tangling condition when someone has the urge to pull out their own hair.

  • Thyroid Conditions can make your hair brittle, thin, and dry and cause hair to fall out earlier than usual.

  • Alopecia Areata is a skin disease that results in hair loss, your immune system attacks hair follicles causing them to fall out into round bald spots.

WHAT COULD HAPPEN

  • Allergies (uncommon): Allergies are cause by lash extension glue ingredients. Signs of allergic reaction includes skin redness, puffiness, and itchiness. This typically occurs within 48 hours of application.

  • Irritation (common): This can be caused by the under-eye pad or thickness of the extension. Signs of irritation includes puffiness, eyeball redness, and itchiness. These symptoms don’t usually last longer than 48 hours after application.

  • Eye infection known as Blepharitis this happens due to poor eye hygiene when dead skin is not washed regularly. You’ll experience a red tender bump on eyelid, burning, tearing, swollen and/or crusting on the eye’s waterline.
